Synopsis
With the arms race in full swing and Cold War hostilities growing, the Kremlin sanctions the creation of a Biological Warfare Weapons Research Facility and new town to house the scientists and their families. Within a year, the town of Yacheyka is complete—off the grid and not shown on any maps. Work starts immediately with little concern for safety. An accident in the 1960s leads to the release of a deadly pathogen that instantly kills all traces of life up to a radius of ten miles. The Russians impose a fifty-mile exclusion zone around the facility, sealing the scientists’ mortal creation inside the dead town forever.
Fast forward to the present day. Agneta Bergqvist, a wealthy Swedish entrepreneur, environmentalist and climate activist, frustrated at a lack of progress on climate change, decides to teach humankind a lesson. She enters the facility and steals the deadly weapon. With news of the theft reaching London, MI6 Intelligence Officer Mac contacts British Army HQ to request the services of the best covert operative within the ranks. SAS Captain Kirkland Finn reluctantly accepts the task to infiltrate Bergqvist’s terrorist group and recover the biological weapon. Finn teams up with Mac, a Russian GRU agent and a squad of crack SAS special forces soldiers to foil Bergqvist’s evil plan, from the abandoned city of Yacheyka to an explosive finish in the Baltic Sea.

Really loved this book by new author Andy Munro. I read his first book called Finn’s Quest which was packed with action and this book delivers the same edge of seat excitement and never ending action. Finn is a tough SAS character but full of humour and so the written style of the book is very modern and appeals to female readers – of which I’m one. I can’t wait for the next Finn adventure and hope it’s written very soon.
